 #KeepEnvironmentClean

The environment is everything (living or non-living things) around us. It consists of physical, chemical and other natural forces. The environment takes care of us hence we should always strive to look after it to preserve it. Clean environments make us happy while motivating us to be productive unless if you are allergic to cleanliness then you’d need to follow the #keepenvironmentclean campaign. This allows public relation practitioners (PRPs) to educate people on the importance of keeping our environment clean and how it can affect us negatively if we don’t. We would have a lot of different plants and animals if we took care of our environments.

  • ·         The oldest trees in the world are more than 4 600 years old.
  • ·         One million sea creatures die annually from plastics materials we throw in the ocean.
  • ·         Almost thirty thousand trees are cut down daily so we can have toilet paper.

Strengths for Public Relations using the #KeepEnvironmentClean Campaign

  • ·         Social media is a very powerful tool when it comes to spreading awareness as fast as lightning. PRPs platforms such as facebook, twitter or instagram to make people aware about this campaign. This will help create communities that will encourage and inspire everyone to maintain clean and healthy environments.
  • ·         Most people are not educated about recycling. This campaign will enable many with the necessary information on why, how and when we need to recycle and the benefits of recycling.
  • ·         They can also have joint adventures with different health and environmental organisations such as Green Cross International, Friends of Nature and many more to keep emphasising on the importance of giving back to the environment in a positive way.

Weaknesses for Public Relations using the #KeepEnvironmentClean Campaign

  • ·         People tend to ignore posts about the environment especially when they cannot anticipate how it will affect them in the future.
  • ·         Staying motivated to do the right thing when a lot of people are negative or not giving you the desired feedback can be a challenge.

Recommendations

  • ·         PRPs are advised spark interest when making people aware about such issues like keeping the environment clean. This can be done by decorating posts on social media or offering rewards for good deed.
  • ·         There could be daily programmes about recycling so people are well educated on the matter.
  • ·         PRPs could also make sure that people who don’t have access to the internet are well informed about this movement by using other modes of communication like newspapers, radio, and television.
It starts with you!

#DrugsDestroyLives

A drug is a substance that when taken into the body alters the way a person thinks, feels and behaves. There are legal and illegal drugs. Good drugs are used to diagnose, cure, treat and prevent diseases. There are many different types of drugs and each have their own set of effects and risks. Some examples are: stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, dissociatives, opioids, inhalants and cannabis. Public relation practitioners have a responsibility to make people aware about the overuse of drugs and their negative effects in life.

Public Relations Challenges for
#DrugsDestroyLives

  • ·         Messages can be received in ways public relation practitioners may never have intended for them to be received.
  • ·         Controlling the campaign especially when it goes viral may be difficult and it’d need the right skills to respond in a manner that is respectful, truthful and still maintain healthy relationships with the established community.

It starts with you!

In conclusion it is important to know that issues about drug abuse are sensitive and one must be careful in how these issues are addressed. Advice for a Successful Campaign

  • ·         I would recommend for public relation practitioners to do thorough research on who their targeted audience. In this way, they know how to get their message across in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • ·         Use of creative ways to delight and educate people so that the campaign doesn’t have to be too serious and factual.
  •           People taking steps to stop using drugs' efforts need to be acknowledged and encouraged so they can always be motivated to continue moving forward.
